Flora Europaea the original Linnean specimen mesophanerophyte, 2n=24,48,96 tetraploid, octoploid, hexaduploid xeric to mesoxeric steppe and forest-steppe grassland species north Balkan-Pannonian-Pontic Cirsio-Brachypodion, Festucion valesiacae, Quercetalia pubescentls R34 habitats     A common species in Pannonia, Balkans, Moldavia but extremely rare in Transsylvania.
